Well,well,well, looks like the Dewling /Butler gang beat me to the December 1957 Atlantic Guardian posting!  I had planned to do the same at the start of 2007...but seems like the Dewling/Butler gang has the fastest gun in the wild west.  :-)

So in the great “Gander Flight Posting Fight”, I offer another Atlantic Guardian article, this one from April 1950.   This article shows Gander as it was really becoming civilian.  I have also included two ads that really point out why kids in Gander were so “international” - it was a normal part of our culture as kids to hear about mysterious places like New York, London, Rome or Athens.  Without realizing it, we were becoming citizens of the world, thanks to the place where we grew up.

BTW, just a reminder that this fight to see who can send in the most interesting/useful/funny/nostalgic/rip-cramping/or tear-jerking posting is open to all and everyone.  All participants get exactly the same prize = another great look at some other aspect of Gander!
