Very sorry to hear this news. When I began teaching in Lewisporte back in 1963, Amos was teaching there at that time, as well – so, I got to know him then from a different perspective from when he was in Gander. He was a very quiet and unassuming guy who was very devoted to his profession.

He taught art for sure, and I think literature. Ron Mosher's description of him is spot on. He didn't feel he anything to prove, I guess, just teach. He was a fine gentleman.

Sad news. I had Mr. Case in Grade 10 for a couple of subjects. He was also our home room teacher at one point. The class was a handful and I often wondered at his patience. I never saw him get flustered and he never raised his voice, even when handing out detentions at the end of the day( we all got a few of those). I did not realize until now that he was new to the school that year. I suppose he would have still been getting acquainted and making adjustments. I concur with the comments on his composure. Quite frankly, I've never known anyone since with that much quiet patience.

I was very sad to hear the news as Mr. Case, He was my favorite teacher. Bless his heart, he always looked the other way as I was reading a novel behind my textbook. Yes, yes, he knew, he just smiled slightly, shook his head slightly or made some other subtle sign that he knew but was not prepared to take issue. He also taught Economics which was very interesting and in fact for a period I thought I would become a stockbroker on the strength of it, but somehow that never happened.

I am saddened to learn of Mr. Case's death. I remember him as one of a kind. You are right, I was in his Economics class.. I remember having him for English Lit and Math as well. He was so thorough and patient in his teaching and with each of his students. A real gentleman!
