The Solidaires and Cliff Powell

Guess I'm the late arrival on the scene (again), but I want to let Carol know how much I appreciate her efforts for the web page in general and the Solidaires page in particular. I know that somewhere in the far reaches of my memory I could remember attending a Solidaires concert at MUN in the early 1960s.

I was in visitng Dad tonight, he needed a new supply of biscuits and cookies, and I talked to him about the Solidaires, and he remembers them  well. He especially remembers Ed Goff who came to our home often, especially if Mom and Dad were having one of their very loud house parties. Ed noticed Dad had a nice piano, said it was in great  tune, and he needed a panio for an upcoming performance by the Solidaires.  Would Dad mind if he borrowed the piano?  NO, he didn't mind.  Dad called the men on the construction job, with a big truck, they moved the piano onto the truck , took it to the Centre where Ed Goff needed it, and the next day the guys went back and picked it up
and back to our house. End of story. Dad sees Graham Powell a lot here in Halifax, Graham goes to the same Tim Hortons. Graham plays in an orchestra here, but I don't know where he plays.

I remember once in 1968 when I got back from Cyprus  and got home (to Gander) for Xmas. I remember it because I had a white formal tux and Wellingtons  that I had specially  made and wore for the first time down at the Airport Club.... In fact, it was the only time I ever wore that outfit. I kept the boots but somewhere along the way the white jacket disappeared shortly after. So whenever I see a white formal attire, I think  invariably of the Solidaires (and of course the lady who was with me. But that is another story!) Maybe they played one of the tunes you  put on the site... A real trip in time.  Tnx
