I chose to enter the field of Physical Education and Health, completing two
undergraduate degrees from Memorial and then my graduate work at the University of
Wisconsin, Madison.. In 1969 I was lecturing in Physical Education at Memorial and met a graduate student, Pat O'Doherty from Ireland, who was studing Biochemistry. We were
married in 1970. In 1979 I was widowed after 9 years of marriage (no children).
With 30 years in the school and university systems, I could say that I am retired with
much of my time now spent in the volunteering sector of my community.
