Sentimental Journey

Gonna take a sentimental journey

Gonna set my heart at ease

Gonna mak a sentimental journey

To renew old memories

Got my bags, got my reservations

Spent each dime I could afford

Like a child in wild anticipation

I long to hear that ‘All aboard’

Seven…that’s the time we leave, at

Seven

I’ll be waiting up at heaven

Countin every mile of railroad track

That takes me back

Never thought my heart could be so

yearny

Why did I decide to roam?

Gonna take that sentimental journey

Sentimental journey home

Sentimental journey home

You don’t want to miss this Reunion!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 20

Registration starts Friday, August 20th at Hotel Gander with a Meet and Greet reception Friday evening.  Hors d’oeuvres will be included and casual entertainment will be performed by former students.  A collection of photos will be shown on a large projection screen and will feature photos of the early construction of the Airport; military occupation during the days of WWII; and feature many photos of students from their school days to their early adulthood in Gander.  The atmosphere of the evening is designed to accommodate those who wish to sit and meet old classmates.

SATURDAY, August 21

Saturday afternoon will be “free time” and a list of “Things to Do or See” will be available.  Plans are underway for those who wish to visit and do a walking tour of the old airport, and transportation will be provided to and from the Town.   Effort is being made to erect signage depicting various establishments, buildings and residences of former students.  A picnic at the Lake, tour of Gander Academy, and many other suggestions are being viewed as potential activities for that afternoon depending on the preference of those attending.

Saturday Evening, August 21

A gala Banquet and Dance will be held on Saturday evening, and will feature the live entertainment of the reconvened band “Airship” who will be performing music from the ’50’s and ‘60’s.   Members of the band are Neil Bishop, Barry Mills, John Staple, Glenn Blandford, Al Smith and Jim Elms. You won’t want to miss this evening of fine dining and music.

SUNDAY, August 22

On Sunday a farewell brunch will be held at the International Lounge of the Airport terminal.  This reception will be catered by Weston’s and will include a fabulous menu of Champagne and Orange Juice, Chocolate Fountain, salads, soups, breakfast items, desserts, fisherman’s brewis, etc. – all served by a Weston’s own chef and staff.

Professional videographers and photographers will be on hand for all activities throughout the weekend.

This may be your last chance to meet old friends, old flames and old classmates and reminisce about old times.
